Let me get rid of the stupid green notification light

The green notification light on "what's new" is distracting, and there's apparently no way to turn it off. I can't imagine using this product for anything more than a few minutes if your product team is so disrespectful to your users that they believe their messages must be constantly at the attention of the users.
